A SITE HAS STARTED which is attempting to call for a boycott on Sapphire graphics products.

The site, at www.boycottsapphire.com, alleges that the company is playing dirty tricks on customers by selling products that, it claims are crippled.

The gist of the argument appears to be that the graphics card industry is giving products misleading names, and it’s hard to know the difference between, for example, Radeon 9800s, 9800SE, 9800Pros and 9800XTs.

But giving different names to slightly different products is all part of the marchitecture mix.

Sapphire has not yet responded to the allegations on the website.

Well, this was a long time comming in my opinion, someone obviously as peeved as me at all the manufacturers deceiving ways has set up a site to vent their anger, and its really getting some air play which is great.
my hope is now, is for most of the more respected tech sites around the world air a bit about problem and put some real pressure back on the manufacturers, and moreso nvidia & ati, as they could fix this problem overnite by not allowing the makers to deviate off reference design, well, not allow lowering of the spec anyway. this may mean nv & ati would have to release a couple more cards to their lineup, but the end result would be more than worth that little extra effort.
