Well this is what PtP! and I have really been waiting for - Grantsdale and Alderwood. Viperlair's article is high-level and perfect for explaining all the changes these new technologies offer. Suffice it to say you're going to need new DDR2 memory and a new graphics card that has the PCI 16X slot. Add the cost of the Mobo, a new Cooler and of course a new P4 LGA P4 (Socket-T) and it won't be a cheap upgrade this time around!

I was looking at some earlier specs on the onboard video and sound, and for most people the onboard video would be sufficient to play most of todays titles efficiantly at a reasonable resolution and the onboard sound appears to be good enough for us all so maybe that will make one less card taking up a slot.

With such a dramatic change this time round looks like the missus gets to check her email on a 3.0ghz P4 with 9800XT when I do my upgrade ;)
