I couldn't believe this story but I've cross-referenced it with some other articles on the Net and it's not fake. I've always maintained the only way Humanity will ever really 'conquer' space is with Humans who have been modified to adapt to the harsh conditions that environment presents.

I can hear the Penile Extension industry rubbing their hands together already.

I completely agree mate. I take it you've seen Gattaca? I hope it doesn't end up like that but consider the population explosion in Third World countries (And lack of Birth Control), dwindling planetary resources (Which means no food a certain percentage of humanity) and we are looking at a disaster.
I don't like the way things are headed at all. The gap between the 'haves' and 'have nots' is widening to a chasm. I can see enforced Birth Control within 20-30 years and perhaps 'mail-order' babies whereby the 'parents' simply choose the best 'DNA' traits of the sperm/egg and 'have a baby'.
I hate to refer to Sci-Fi again but many series/movies have dealt with what happens when everything is 'too perfect' - nature always steps in to enforce a balance.
The whole thing doesn't bare thinking about and is quite frightening when you really give it some thought.

Funny you mentioned Gattaca, that was the exact movie that crossed my mind when making my comment. On a similar subject, science fiction movies like "Running Man" we laughed at and were shocked by years ago but have a look at the "reality TV" shit that is on our television screens now and they are only one step below that form of television already (shudder). All I can say is I am glad I am not a young teenager now as I am sure watching them put the needle in the arm of a convicted murderer will be the reality TV show of the future.
