Fan site HalfLife2.net is reporting <http://www.hl2world.com/> that Valve Software's Gabe Newell has confirmed that Half-Life 2 is currently in bug squashing mode, and at the current rate the game will be "bug free" in 16 days. In addition, the beta version of Counter-Strike: Source will pre-load on Steam beginning on August 5 with the official launch set for August 10. The beta will contain one map and will be about 300MB. Greg Coomer, product designer at Valve, has confirmed <http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showpost.php?p=591623&postcount=22> that all ATi voucher holders will also be included in the beta. This will be good news for those of you that don't want to buy Counter-Strike: Condition Zero.

Which could possibly translate to early to Mid September what do you think Ptp! ?

It makes sense given DOOM 3 is just around the corner. Valve don't want DOOM 3 hype raining on their parade so I'm guessing it's going to be very soon.

Cheers

There's always the concern people only have enough cash to buy one game in a given period of time, so they'd wanna get in early to compete.

Doom brings back memories, of half the office floor guys having a play at work during the lunch break. I hope the gameplay is a little more than find buttons, kill monsters. Obviously the graphics and sound will have beefed up since those days a tad. Must be around 10 or more years ago at least now  My how time has flown! PCs were pretty basic back in those early doom days compared to today's beasts.

What memories do ya'll have of those doom days?

Cheers,
Max

My memories of the Doom series was playing co-op with a mate 20klms away over a 9600bps modem from after getting home from work until 3am in the morning every night for months, sadly co-op I thought was the best part of doom and they have no co-op in Doom3 :(

Was very disgruntled to hear co-op wasnt going to be in doom3. Might hope a third party makes a co-op mod for it.
