yello,

Just got a DG834G Netgear modem/router in order to get rid of some bloody cables.

it was up and running in no time using the wizard and I can connect to steam/mirc/teamspeak with no problems (so far - both wireless and wired). So connection is ok.

however browsing the internet using iexplorer is retarded- i will click on a link and sometimes it goes and sometimes it timesout/cannot connect ie "the page cannot be displayed " message. If i press back and then click on it again it will open the link (somestimes i have to do this twice). I am presuming it must be something to do with the old ie - I set to defaults on ie and it didnt make any diff

any suggestions?

cheers

Hey cookie, I had this exact problem, but was when there were two computers connected to the net via Internet Connection Sharing, and obviously no router at that point in time.

Unfortunately I don't recall the cure.

Some suggestions though:

Firstly do a google and put in these search words and be prepared to read a fair bit to find people with the same problems, I managed to find some but couldn't pick an obvious answer in that lot in the time I was prepared to continue reading for.

words: browser timeout internet connection refresh solve

Here was one URL with the same problem for example: just keep searching:

It would seem a problem in the area of DNS and caching. Have you tried hard coding the DNS's into the router?

Maybe a release and renew of your IP address will help with the following shell commands:
(Guessing now)

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

Wait for the real techies here to reply before trying stuff.

Not much help sorry.

Cheers,
Max
