Hey guys,
I finally got around to downloading and viewing the 25 minute (600Mb) Half Life 2 movie and have watched it 3 times now.
All I can say is I am thoroughly impressed and can't wait for the game to come out, and just hope my PIII 733 with a Geforce 2 MX will do justice to it.
Some stuff to impress me were the water and fire effects, the object manipulation gun, the way objects flop (eg a ragdoll body feel), the way barrels falling all moved quite randomly, the way objects collided or reacted with other objects, the impressive outdoor sections, the tripod enemy thingy looked sensational, especially the way the AI appeared to make it try to blow it's way through an arch that was too tall, fail to blow it away so it crouched under it, the way it skewered a guy with one of it's legs and then shake the corpse off, the detail in the surroundings dripping with atmosphere, the incredible facial expressions and so much more besides. The lip syncing in the demo didn't appear too great from memory. I've passed a cd to a couple of mates who are also impressed, hope I get a discount when I buy it for acting as a salesman for them.
Extremely impressed.
Cheers,
Max
