View Full Version : Bandwidth Limiter
Im getting my ADSL back in the next week I was just wondering weather any one knows of a good program to limit the amount of bandwith per machine. I have 3 machines on my net work any info you have would be appreciated. Need to keep the maximum for the gaming machine :)

i thought id need one of them as well for my cable with my sister using other machine as i play...
but i found she could download comfortably 80KBs + and not hurt my TFC :)
(my rates are quite low i spose, so i dont download mega amounts when i play on WTF )
rate 20000
cl_updaterate 40
cl_cmdrate 40
Yes thats right but you have cable uncapped speed the maximum you can get on a 512k connection is 60kps unfortunately

i barely use 5 KB/s total upload&download playing TFC ... but downloading doesnt affect my ping either at all on cable, data somehow gets to servers and back just as fast with less bandwidth
but eh im happy:) right choice for cable then, it's cheaper (and better? )

yeah id set all my rates higher, but concerned about how much im downloading from WTF server...
plus i dont have high rates for GA low for WTF, so everything is consistent with concing etc, dont have to get used to concing all over again when i change servers ... so in the end im not downloading much from ga either
WTF drags me down need to get it hosted by GA :D`

i think the wtf box is leaving my comp behind anyway :P
actually pali, by keeping your rates and stuff constant, your actual game is different on different servers a tad.
ive set my configs so everything is pretty much standard, and if the conditions are bad i have my high low and mid settings. :P
Arnt we getting off the subject a little here :D

ive got the same problem, when someone on another pc goes to a website it makes me spike for a couple of secs
im on internode 512/128 adsl
i've been looking for a prog for agers that will give one pc priority over the bandwidth from another pc. The only way i've found to do this is to buy one of them swanky new billion adsl modem/routers or use a linux box to share the conection between other pc's
but both of those are out of my price range

Yeah I've been looking for a way to limit the bandwith to the other PC here for a while now.
A router seems to be the only way I've seen so far, is there anyway to do this using a linux box as the server/gateway?
Another way that i've heard that might make it possible to fiddle with the QoS settings in XP, I havnt been bothered to investigate this yet though.
Dunno im still looking there must be sumthing out there :(
Have a look at this Viss http://bsb.net.ru/ http://bandwidthcontroller.com/features.html
All so found this post=First what OS U use.... In XP, use can configure the bandwidth limit to ZERO, just run gpedit.msc, then adjust networking bandwidth. Hope this will helpfull to u
Thanks bart ill look into it just email me the key gen :)
