In what could possibly be described as one of (potentially) the greatest Motherboards of all time Abit have announced their Super version of i875p - The Max 3. If you've been waiting for a Motherboard that supports Intel's upcoming Prescott Processor then look no further. Abit's Max boards are renowned and are worshipped by tech heads (me!). They also come with superb bundles.

Check out the innovative OTES Cooling solution for the Northbridge and Mosfets/Capacitors around the CPU - now that's some serious Motherboard cooling right there!

Gidday Bugs,

Yeah I'd say it will cost around the $400 - $430 buck mark.

LOL no I'm not an Intel convert - I'm more a 'Use what's fastest at the moment' (Regardless of branding) kinda user these days. Or perhaps I've been talking to PtP! too much eh? Here's the tough part though. If you had the bucks and were to update now you'd be missing out on Athlon 64. Potentially this is going to be an awesome CPU and the fact is it can run both 64-Bit AND 32-Bit native code makes it a very attractive proposition. That means when Microsoft release their 64-Bit Beta version of WinXP in September your CPU can take advantage of it. There's also going to be a 64-Bit version of Unreal Tournament 2003 also.

Give it 3-4 years and everyone will be using 64-Bit OS's and more and more programs will be coded for it.

So do you go for Intel Prescott which will max out at who knows what Core speed (Maybe PtP! knows) or do you go with the (as yet) untried 64-Bit technology from AMD?

Add to that R380 from ATi in the graphics department very soon (And R420 waiting in the wings) it's going to be a great Xmas!!!

I'll just be happy with my Logitech Z-680's that are coming soon (Well as soon as the posty drops off my Tax cheque!).

As for the missus - pffft - she's happy I wear her ass as a hat if she can drag me off the PC long enough :)

Whew - lucky she's not looking over my shoulder - ummm Coming Dear!!!!

Cheers

Personally im gonna wait until both the Athlon 64 and the Intel Prescott are out, then evaluate their performance for their buck. depends on how good the 64-bit processors are, I think that im gonna go for a Athlon 64 but the new intel's with the 800MHz FSB are nice too.
