Connecting two cable accts

anyone know if you could connect two cable accounts in one house via two cable modems connected at separate points?

Or do you have to use a hub connected to the one modem for two concurrent accounts?

As far as im aware you can only have one account per line, if you want to run 2 machines just get a router and do it that way.
