Perhaps my sheltered cs/dod background has left me slightly clueless but this whole idea of "chasing" just seems a little fucked up/odd/bizzare/new zealanderish. I believe hak also shares this confusion.
I'll try to illustrate via an example.
In DoD, I guess you could sort of classify my role as "offense" but again, the whole team really needs to take part in the offensive moves for DoD.
Now for the example. If I was in the process of going to cap one of the Bad Guy's flags and I happen upon some little bugger with a Tommy gun who is attempting the reverse procedure on us, my standard pattern of thinking and action taking would go something like this...
1. There is a bad guy there.
2. Shoot bad guy in brain with k98.
3. Team says "good shot cyc" and much gay sex follows after match.
This is opposed to the TFC convention, which now I understand I have limited experience with so please bear with me, goes something like this...
1. There is a bad guy there.
2. Oh, he is an offense person as well.
3. That means we share a kindred spirit.
4. Quick hug, followed by wishing your opposing player good luck in capturing the flag.
5. You both frollick off on your merry way.
Now both have their pro and cons im sure, but surely you can understand from an outsiders point of view that the DoD/CS method is much more effective. Of course the games are rather different, what with our flags being stuck in the ground and all that so please feel free to shed some light on this for poor old Cyclo.
