Yes it's upgrade time - the happiest time of the year (Thankyou Mr Tax Man :) ). So I'm all ready for Half-Life 2. Just waiting for ATi to release their new Radeon 9800XT Pro on September 30th and we're in business.

New system-:

Abit IC7 Max3 Motherboard
Pentium 4 3.0Ghz @ 3.7Ghz
1Gig Corsair PC3700 DDR CL3 RAM
2 * 36 Gig WD 10000K HDD's in RAID 0
2 * 120Gig WD 7200K HDD's (Backup and System imaging) in RAID 1
Pioneer A06 DVD-RW
Audigy 2 Platinum
Logitech Z-680 5.1 Speakers
Liteon 52*52*32 CD-RW
Thermaltake Spark +7 CPU Fan
Enermax 550Watt PSU

So I cracked 19000 in 3DMark2001SE and I'm pretty chuffed! Just waiting for the new ATi Radeon 9800XT (Core 415Mhz & Memory 730Mhz purportedly :-? ).

System ready for HL2 & Homeworld 2 - w00t!

I'm sure PtP! will be happy I'm back in Intel / P4 Land. BTW - The Abit IC7 Max3 is about the best Mobo I've ever had. Superbly stable and effortless overclocker. Read a review of it here:

I buy all my parts from Computer & Parts Land in Notting Hill (Near Mt Waverley). They are by far the cheapest in melbourne and are very close to swapmmet prices. I've shopped there for probably the last 8 years and simply wouldn't go anywhere else.

The address is:

Unit 4, Monash Business Centre 26-30 Howleys Rd, Notting Hill, VIC, 3168
Phone - (03)8542-8688

They advertise in The Age Green Guide every Thursday and their prices simply cannot be beaten. They have also become an enthusiasts best friend because they now sell the best CPU Fans, LED Fans, Antec/Thermaltake,Lian-Li cases, Cables you name it. And you can bet they'll have something as soon as it's released (Case in point was the Abit IC7 Max3 - I read the review and they had it 2 days later).

Just don't go there Saturday morning because it gets PACKED. Go there as SOON as they open which is 09:30 and you'll be fine. They also attend the swapmeet on Sundays in Melbourne. Their shop is also open all day Sunday (Because Geeks never sleep don't ya know ;) ).

Yep great place to shop I highly recommend it. Just go there kknowing exactly what you want and you'll be in and out like a shot. Huge new display area for Monitors and Cases to (They also display everything they sell including water-cooling kits, CPU's, Motherboards, Monitors, MoD accessories).

And to make me even happier today - Homeworld 2 has come out!!! Picking it up from Pulsar Computers in the city after work 8)

Now all I have to wait for is Half-Life 2 and Radeon 9800XT which is RUMOURED to be coming out in a bundle! Superb indeed.

Cheers
