LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Princeton graduate student said on Monday that he has figured out a way to defeat new software intended to keep music CDs from being copied on a computer -- simply by pressing the Shift-key.

SunnComm Technologies, a developer of CD antipiracy technology, said Thursday that it will likely sue a Princeton student who early this week showed how to evade the company's copy protection by pushing a computer's Shift key.

It's not a bug...
For their protection to work, some software must be run in order for their encryption scheme to work. All the student did was not Auto-run the cd once it was inserted into the computer.
Jesus, I do that all the time. I'm sick to death of inserting a cd into my computer and a popup comes up saying what I would like to do with it...

start -> run -> gpedit.msc
local computer policy -> computer configuration -> administrative templates -> system -> Turn off Autoplay = enabled
there is also a setting for this in the user configuration also, but if a conflict in one of the policies is detected it will refer to the computer policy rather than the user policy.
