I've heard the google news is good...

Can't trust the Herald...

I only wish The Age had the herlad format which would make it readable easier....

Agreed, if The Age came in a smaller sized paper like Herald Sun it would be much better.

errr herald is in that tabloid format due to the iq of the average reader where as the age has readers of higher iq therefor has longer columns/sentences

It's funny how you would see executives clearing out their whole desk just to find space for this paper.... seeing these people that earn high salaries bend over backwards just to read this paper so they can be part of the 'higher iq' community...

Was something we learnt in 3 unit english though makes sense the heralds kinda like the news in brief with lotsa crap feel good stories very little substance

I read 'The Age' online thankfully....

:)

The paper itself seems pretty small... If the advertisements were taken out, it would be quite small!!

If it were being produced in the tabloid format, I think it would be the same thickness. This assumes the advertisements have been removed!

Look for a trial edition of the Age coming out in "tabloid" size as well as the broadsheet size we know.

Hmm,

Havn't heard of any trial edition coming out?

Unless your reffering to the A2 Magazine which comes with the newspaper. Other than that, I can't find any information on their being a trial edition??

Well, the official word from The Age is they will continue with broadsheet for a WHILE now.... No word on introducing it into the tabloid format!

Michael Gawenda (not sure of spelling) on either 3LO with John Faine, or 3AK with Phil Cleary said that they would look at releasing a tabloid size copy of the Age, after a US paper (cant rmeember each one) decided to produce the same paper in both formats, and would experiment with it as a limited run in Melbournes inner-city.

from memory.. I think he also said that an Adelaide paper had made a transition from broadsheet to tabloid exclusively, and found that their readership went up, but they couldnt really rate that as a good example because adelaide was a one-paper town (is that true?)

Might be true...

I emailed The Age and they responded by telling me arn't thinking of any tabloid editions as yet... well not for a while...

But that could always change I guess.... It always relies on the readers so if they want it and there is a demand big enough... then it should happen
